Nick and Bahar’s Wedding Featured in Parade Magazine and The Knot!

We are so excited to announce that Nick and Bahar, our amazing Wish Upon a Wedding couple, are featured in this weekends issue of Parade Magazine.  The article is also on their website and is the wedding of the week on The Knot. Through the online article you can also see the beautiful videos by Chicago Cinematic Weddings, they are really worth watching!

It was such a pleasure working with everyone at Parade and the knot. We thank them for all of the exposure for Wish Upon a Wedding. Being a wish grantor has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and I look forward to doing it again.

In the next week or so I plan to write my own post about this exceptional wedding featuring images from the talented Amanda Hein.  I will take that opportunity to mention all of the amazing vendors who donated their time and talents and give you a little insight into the amazing Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt.

Wish Upon a Wedding is the world’s first nonprofit wish granting organization providing weddings and vow renewals for couples facing terminal illness and serious life-altering circumstances, regardless of sexual orientation. Often, couples facing such situations do not have the energy, time, money, or resources needed to plan their wedding. Our organization takes care of all the details, offering couples a chance to relax and enjoy a very special day while surrounded by the love of their closest family and friends.

Wish Upon a Wedding

I am so thrilled to say I just granted my first wish for Wish Upon a Wedding. I was contacted by the Chicago Chapter about five weeks ago and asked to be the wedding planner for their third wedding wish. This was an extra special wedding for an amazing couple.  I had the pleasure of getting to know Nick and Bahar on a very personal level.  They have touched my heart and my life in so many wonderful ways.

I am so honored to be one of the many wish grantors that came together to make Nick and Bahar’s wedding the most amazing day ever.  To learn more about all of the wish grantors be sure to check out the Wish Upon a Wedding Blog. We will be posting pictures and details from the big day soon so stay posted!

Wish Upon a Wedding provides weddings & vow renewals for couples facing terminal illness and other serious life-altering circumstances. By giving the gifts of  dream weddings & vow renewals, they are able to grant some of the most intimate and heartfelt wishes of these people’s lives, and help them share this important day with close family members. The foundation was created to celebrate the courage, determination and spirit of these couples by granting their dream wedding wishes. Their hope is that chosen recipients can inspire others couples facing similar situations to find hope and strength.

All wedding wishes are granted at completely no charge for to the couple. This is made possible by the generosity of the wish grantors and donations.  If you are moved by what Wish Upon a Wedding does for these amazing couples please consider making a donation. There are many different ways to help including making a donation in lieu of favors on your wedding day or donating your air miles. You are also invited to attend the first annual Blissful Wishes Ball on November 1st at The Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel.  It will be a magical night filled with great food, fun and top notch entertainment from The Larry King Orchestra.

Here is a tiny excerpt from their website:

Our mission is to grant wishes, including memory-making events, for metastatic breast cancer patients, while continuing to support, educate and increase resource awareness.

We at Making Memories are dedicated to providing a spark of joy into the lives of women and men who are losing their battle against breast cancer. The tragedy of this illness is not merely the physical and emotional burden, but also the enormous financial strain it places on a family.  When insurance benefits are exhausted and mounting medical expenses deplete bank accounts, there is often little or no money left for special memory-making moments, set apart from the everyday sadness and turmoil of “saying goodbye.”

It is the driving force of our Foundation to make a wish come true for these brave fighters. The wishes and memory-making events we bestow, allows the individual and their family the opportunity to put aside the realities of this illness, if only for a time, while basking in the joy of one another’s presence.  Our sincere desire is for every terminally ill breast cancer patient to pass from this world, comforted in the knowledge of having left one final beautiful memory for his or her family.
